Publications on multimorbidity November 2014-March 2015

By Martin Fortin

Our search for papers on multimorbidity that were published during the period November 2014-March 2015 has been completed. As in previous searches, we found many new papers and the list is too long for this venue. Therefore, we have prepared a PDF file that can be accessed following this link.
Probably, there are some publications that were not detected by our search strategy using the terms “multimorbidity”, “multi-morbidity” and the expression “multiple chronic diseases”, but we are sure that most publications on the subject are included in the list.
All references are also included in our library. Feel free to share with anyone interested in multimorbidity.

Thank you for compiling a very useful literature search- particularly useful to bring up to speed someone like me who is new to the topic. My project is to look at multimorbidity and survival in older people and how and why it varies across socioeconomic groups. A link to the outline of the research is here:

Could you advise me (or refer me to someone) on whether there is a concensus on the list of major diseases or agreed criteria for deciding which chronic physical or mental diseases or conditions to include in an epidemiological study of MM? I am particularly keen to hear whether you consider conditions like hypertension shd be included in the list of chronic diseases or as a risk factor for a chronic condition – ie stroke.
Grateful for your view and advice. Thank you

We have developed a list a 21 chronic conditions (or set of conditions) based on a literature review. This list will be used by Canadian Institute of Health Research’s teams on Community-Based Primary Health Care Research. Our team has the mandate to validate this list of conditions. This is an ongoing work that has never been published yet. The development of this list along with the list per se will be submitted for publication next week to an international journal by a trainee associated with our CIHR team. When published, it will be disseminated and discussed on this blog.

And Hypertension is definitely on this list as a chronic condition

Thanks for your comment and request!
